In addition to tooth preservation through tooth decay and root treatment, the Mydent team also takes care of oral surgery and implantological procedures and, of course, orthodontic and aesthetic measures — such as tooth corrections and whitening.

With their comprehensive range of services, Mydent dentists are so successful that they now operate ten locations in the Ruhr area and the surrounding area. But as innovative as the treatment methods are, the processes for organizing the practice used to be outdated.

The analog and paper-heavy anamnesis made everyday life in the dental practice more difficult

Like many other medical practices, Mydent dentists worked primarily with a very paper-heavy patient intake until recently. This means that medical history sheets were ordered in large numbers from the printing house. These were then distributed to patients by dental specialists, who in turn completed these questionnaires in the practice waiting room. The paper questionnaires were then scanned by the ZFAs. The paper medical history sheets then had to be destroyed after a certain storage period.

The Mydent dental practice was not alone with this complex procedure: Many medical practices in Germany still work exclusively analogously.

But this paper-heavy process is a huge effort for dental professionals, which costs a great deal of time. And this in addition to the already exhausting organization of practice, which was made even more difficult by hygiene regulations and other pandemic-related measures.

In search of a good accounting solution

Another major issue was payment processing. There are usually several paths for dentists here, which have their own advantages and disadvantages.

The Managing Director of Mydent, Volkan Demirbas, has so far mainly used a factoring provider in his practices, which sends the invoice for a dental cleaning, for example, to the patient by post. The disadvantage is that factoring is not yet sufficiently digitized.

An acquaintance makes contact with Nelly founder Niklas Radner

The managing director of Mydent dentists Volkan Demirbas knew about these problems, which caused a lot of additional work for the already heavily burdened ZFAs. He was looking for a solution to replace at least some of the factoring invoices and card payments with a leaner and more innovative solution.

Finally, with Nelly, it is possible to digitize patients' anamnesis.The patient can complete medical history data and other documents via their own smartphone. This convinced Volkan Demirbas so much that he tested Nelly in a pilot project in December 2021. He was so impressed by the digital patient recording — and especially the easier payment processing — that he had Nelly installed in all ten Mydent dental practices without further ado!

“I like Nelly's billing tool the most. The bill arrives as a push message on the patient's mobile phone and no longer by post. In this way, we have already been able to save many trees and save CO2! , says Volkan Demirbas about the successful cooperation.
